Ms. Adam´s is one of the art teachers at Carter high school. She was always into art ever since she was a little girl. Her entire family has always been into the whole art theme such as fashion design, product designer, art history buff and many more.Everyone had something creative going on, be it drawing out plans and ideas or just art as a hobby. She was always creating, drawing, building and painting. She loved to read and play music, so her imagination and creativity was fanned from a very early age.One of Her earliest memories is around age 4 or 5, sitting at the coffee table in the family room and pouring through books her Nonna and Mom had just brought back from some museums on a trip they took. She was in awe of the paintings, mostly French Impressionists and Post Impressionists. She said herself ¨My life was forever changed.¨Fast Forward to high school She went to New York and Italy with her High School honors and AP art classes
Her love for art was cemented forever after that. However, She didn’t see it as a career at the time. She enrolled in college at the University of South Carolina. She thought that she would work in some facet of international business, accounting, translations, just something that would allow her to travel. However, life had other plans. She was excelling in all of her courses but she was terribly bored. ¨no offence to my business friends and family¨ she had said and it just wasn’t for her. So, after class one day, she marched across campus and met with an advisor and said she wanted to be an art teacher. She told her folks she switched her major and the rest, as they say, is history. She got a bachelors in fine arts in Art Education. She always goes to museums and galleries whenever she is in a new place. She picks up books from her travels, marks them with the date and whom She was with, and keeps it for reference in her library.
She loves to read about art and artists. As far as the question of what is the downfall of art, there is none as long as you create for yourself. The business side of art is a hustle. You have to be okay with that. You have to be able to produce and get yourself and your art to as many galleries as you can, work social media, and network. This isn’t any different than being in sales of a product or insurance or something like that. You just have to work hard and get your work out there. No one is going to knock on your door and say “Hey, I heard a really awesome artist lives here.” So get yourself out there. Oh, and make art every day you can. You get better and your ideas get better the more you create.
