Along every hallway here at Carter High School lie vacant lockers waiting to be used. Every day students pass these lockers and do not think twice about them. But if the students took a minute to look at the pros of using lockers they would see that they should use them. Students all throughout the school talk about how useless the lockers are and how they are a “waste of space.” A plethora of students dislike the lockers; however, lockers are very useful. More students should use the lockers because it can make their bag lighter. Half of the useless stuff you might not need for every class just takes up room in your backpack that is not needed. It also adds weight onto your back as you walk through the hallways that is unnecessary. If students will put the non-needed school supplies in lockers, it would make wandering the halls more luxurious. Lockers are also useful to students who have things that they do not want to carry around with them all day. For example, if a student athlete has a change of clothes or a pair of shoes they need at some point throughout the day they can put it in their locker instead of carrying it around with them all day. Another example is if it is supposed to rain and someone brings a rain jacket; they can put it in the locker until they are ready to use it. Using lockers can also help students be more organized with their work. Instead of having all of their work crammed into their backpack they can keep it inside of their locker until it is due. Even though some may say that there is no time to use the lockers in between class change and still make it to class in time, students do not have to use their lockers after every class period. Students can just use the lockers whenever they want and see a need to. Henceforth, students should use lockers more often to improve their everyday school experience.
