Today, the color guard practices are performed to music while the team members are wearing outfits that match their theme.I have been speaking to a former teammate of the color guard, Jasmine Garner.She has been in the color guard for a year now and has interesting information to tell us about everything her and her teammates do. Most people do not know exactly what the guard is so i have asked Jasmine if she could summarize it for me and she said ¨We are the flags at halftime, so people actually have something to keep them entertained during halftime instead of just listening to music.¨ The guard has a 90×60 ft flag that they pull over the band and they even have an eighth and seventh grader in their high school team.
The guard practices on Mondays, has games on Fridays and competitions on Saturdays. This year the show is called Rise Up. It’s about a phoenix.There were seventeen members last year and there are eleven members this year. Ellie Wilson star is the coach of the color guard and the captain is Jason Degresso. They have practice during the third block and have three fourths of the halftime show done already.Last season there was a little bit of a change up and people were disappointed.I was told that last season there was supposed to be a show called the culprit, about a bandit and because of covid they could not perform it, since they were not going to many games.
