Ms. Wimer is the one and only French teacher here at Carter High School. This lovely woman teaches French 1, 2, and 3 with no planning period. Now that shows dedication!

Ms. Wimer was a language major at Lee University and had to go to France to get full credit. She decided to go to Normandy, France for two back to back summers and be home for the rest of the time. Her first time living in Normandy she was twenty and the second she was twenty-one. She moved to a small town called Merville-Franceville-Plage which is a small town in Normandy. Normandy is located in Northern France and her small little town she once lived in was right on the beach. Ms Wimer said that,“The weather was great and I loved living on the beach.” She lived with her “French Mom” as she calls her, whose name is Danielle. The two ladies got extremely close and still keep in touch. 

When talking about France, she always has good things to say. She says the people in her town were so polite and always looked out for everyone in the community. Her favorite place to go was a local pastry shop to get something to eat, then walk to the park and eat. Every day  Ms. Wimer would go on a forty minute walk through her small village. Sometimes she would go an extra twenty minutes to walk through some farmland and pet the animals there. When I asked her what the food was like, she replied with,”I gained twenty pounds while I lived there and I don’t regret it.” 

Something that is different about France than the USA is, they get free healthcare, free public transit cards which saves money on getting a car and paying for public transportation, and there are no taxes on food. 

Ms. Wimer plans to move back to France for her retirement. Overall, she really encourages people to go to France if they can and thinks it is a beautiful and wonderful place.

When one hears that a film is titled Cocaine Bear, one’s mind races in curiosity. You wonder if the film will live up to its gaudy premise. Will it be a low-budget Sci-Fi channel original? Will it be a crowd-pleasing B-film? Elizabeth Banks’ 3rd directorial feature is the latter. When a drug smuggler’s plane is going down over Knoxville, TN, he drops his load of cocaine and jumps. Unfortunately for the diver, he hits his head and falls to his death. Unfortunately for everyone else in the film, the portion of the narcotics dropped over Blood Mountain in Chattahoochee National Park in Georgia. Here, a black bear ingests the cocaine and goes on a rampage. The bear crosses paths with a variety of interesting characters including Tennessee police officer Bob, mother Sari, her daughter DeeDee, DeeDee’s friend Henry, and several others. While each human character has his or her own arc and story, what everyone goes to the theater to see is the gory ways they meet their demise at the hands of the titular bear. Of course, this is all not historical. Based very loosely on a true story, Cocaine Bear actually has a near-factual beginning in reality. Andrew Thornton, a drug smuggler, died by falling out of the plane over Knoxville after he attempted to parachute. He had several bags of cocaine in his possession where he was found in a neighborhood driveway, wearing a bulletproof vest and Gucci loafers. They later found the aircraft in North Carolina’s mountains along with nine other duffel bags of cocaine. Three months later, a dead Black Bear and a tenth bag of cocaine were found. The bear had ingested at least three or four grams of cocaine, but the only ones harmed in the event were Thorton, of his own stupidity, and the bear due to being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Today, the taxidermy of the bear is displayed at the Kentucky Fun Mall in Lexington. When focusing on the more exaggerated version, my personal favorite side character was the hilarious Ranger Liz, portrayed by beloved character actress Margo Martindale. While the movie will certainly win no Oscars with its relatively weak script, its overreliance on joking about its own existence, and its lack of cultural staying power, it does succeed on the only thing it promises. A bear does cocaine and goes on a rampage. That is the only thing one should expect from this movie and if one accepts that, then it is a ridiculous, fun ride. Seeing this movie at home will never be able to recreate the experience of laughing together with 50 other people, cringing and shielding away through the gory moments, at an intoxicated bear murdering her way through a bunch of idiots. “I’d love to not remember this. But it kind of seems like the thing that stays with a man forever,” Henry remarks after a tense scene. And man, I hear you.

Every year around Easter time when you look around stores you see marshmallow peeps everywhere you look. They come out with a bunch of flavors every year or new colors of peeps each year. But have you had the Sour Watermelon peeps taste like a marshmallow watermelon sour patch kid in the shape of a chick. The watermelon taste is so strong that you don’t get bored with every bite. When you bite it’s just a tad bit sour then the more you eat it just tastes sweet. It reminds you of the summer time. I’ve never liked peeps until I have tried these and now I want them all the time.

On March 2, 2020 at 10:46 am Peeps came out with the Sour Watermelon Peeps. On the outside they are green with sour crystals while on the inside it is just pink like a watermelon. They are gluten and fat free. Made in the USA and made out of globally sourced ingredients. A lot of people use them to put it in their Easter baskets. They also just eat them around summer time since it tastes so much like watermelon.

Girls at Carter High School Opinion about how they can’t really express themselves.

Guys have more freedom to express themselves with their clothes more than girls can.

When girls show their shoulders or when they show too much skin they are asked to change. Boys are able to sag and some wear short shorts and show their stomach without getting in trouble.

Girls should have more freedom so they can express themselves more with what they wear

If girls could express themselves people will be actually able to tell how they represent themselves. If girls are wearing clothes that are that revealing at school they will think that she isn’t trying to show her body off. Then what happens when a guy picks them up and they are showing most of their body.

Some girls’ self esteem goes down because they feel like they are being targeted and it’s their fault that guys can’t control themselves. Also some girls realized that some boys break the dress code just like them but won’t get in trouble for it.

Also parents have to watch what they buy and struggle to buy stuff that their daughter could wear to school. They have to make sure it isn’t too tight and doesn’t show too much skin. There are a lot of problems with the different sizes of our body parts that can make our clothes show too much skin.

Some may disagree with me. They might think that they both have the same limit to express themselves and that they just do it so everyone can focus on school. I understand that they are trying to make sure that everyone is focused on school but that shouldn’t have to make it where  girls have to worry everyday if they wear something if they are going to get dress coded or not. 

Boys and girls get to express themselves with their clothes but girls have more of a limit with their clothes than boys do. Girls feel like they can’t be comfortable in the things they like without getting in trouble. But they realized boys can wear a lot of things and everything is alright. 

Carter High school should offer more clubs to students. They should have a variety of different clubs to choose from. Carter needs more clubs. Most students would like to have more clubs to join. There are only a few clubs as of right now so more clubs would be a good idea. I think this school needs to offer more clubs to students. Most students would enjoy having a club with their interests to go to and hang out with friends. Some clubs that could be added is a pottery club, game club and other clubs. These clubs could be a good way to socialize and make friends outside of school. Students could find friends with similar interests as them and hang out with them. Students might enjoy going to the clubs and seeing people they are already friends with or new people. Students could find more things they could be interested in doing. They might find an art club or something and find out that they really enjoy art. They might find something they never thought that they’d be interested in but might actually love it. Having different clubs could help students find a way to be more involved in things. Some students might not be involved in clubs because they aren’t interested in them, so more clubs could be a way for students to get involved into things more. Although, some students might not like the idea of clubs because they could seem useless or they just don’t like clubs, but I believe that having more clubs would be a great idea and a way for students to have more fun. In the end, Carter High School should offer more clubs to help students make friends, be involved and find out their interests. Most students would love to have more clubs, but other students really wouldn’t care about the clubs. 

Admin at Carter High School have been locking the bathrooms? It is unfair and pointless.

This school year the administration has started to lock certain bathrooms. Locking school bathrooms is unfair. They are locking them due to some kids’ actions but it’s not all. They shouldn’t punish everyone, they should just punish the ones in the wrong. Not everyone has ill intentions.The school is not helping the issue, kids are going to find a way to vandalize and vape in the other bathrooms. They should not make everyone suffer for others actions, There is nothing we can do to stop the other kids. Not everyone deserves to be punished just because others mis-behave. 

The school needs to find a better way to punish those kids instead of punishing everyone. Students should be able to go to the bathroom whenever they need to. Holding it can cause serious issues but the school doesn’t care about the students suffering who didn’t do anything. Not every kid is doing something wrong, just some. Bathrooms are a necessity, they shouldn’t be able to take that away from students its unfair and cruel. Not everyone should be punished for others actions. The school should find another way to punish the students.

Dr Pepper is one of the most famous sodas, It is number 2 on the list of favorite sodas. It’s really sweet but really carbonated. 

it really only does taste like itself. You can get a can of Mr. Pibb, but it’s the same thing. It’s kind of a knockoff. These flavors really do only taste like themselves. In the case of Dr. Pepper, it’s a spicy drink  that you just have to taste to know. There are many many kinds of Dr pepper, and the best one in my opinion is strawberry creme, its foamy, sweet, and fruity all in one. But that’s not the only one there is 23 amazing flavors like 23 flavors are cola, cherry, licorice, amaretto (almond, vanilla, blackberry, apricot, blackberry, caramel, pepper, anise, sarsaparilla, ginger, molasses, lemon, plum, orange, nutmeg, cardamon, all spice, coriander juniper, birch and prickly ash. So you see there is a flavor for everybody, and everybody has their own preference. Not everybody is going to like strawberry creme. They not only make different flavors because of preference but mostly because when new things come out people want to buy and spend money on them so that’s why it’s the number 2 most popular drink. So this is why I think that strawberry creme Dr Pepper is the best drink.

Graduating is one of the best times in highschool, because you finally get to branch out and look back on how highschool was. This year there are a couple of things different like it’s later than last year. Rebecca Lavender a Carter High School Senior states, ¨I’m not upset about it, mostly because we get a couple weeks off before anybody else, but I do hate that it’s still in june.¨

So some people are ok with it and some people are not upset about it. Kaydence Hancock a Carter High School Senior states, ¨I wish it was earlier so I can just get it over with because i’m nervous to walk across stage.¨ Even though graduation is late this year, let’s hope it’s still as good as the previous years.   

Have you ever wondered where your teacher is, while just sitting in class doing nothing. Well schools all over America have had a lot of teachers out, and a lot of substitute teachers. Teachers are out for all sorts of reasons like being sick or an accident occurred, or even they are going to be out  for a while because they’ve had a baby. So we need a sub that can stay for that whole period, not  just random people coming in doing nothing, and the kids just sitting there while their grade is dropping. Also not all subs had taught that class so they don’t even know how to help the kids with their work because they don’t even know how to teach it themselves. Teachers also have become more likely to miss 10 percent or more of school days since the pandemic began.It’s no surprise researchers find that teacher absence lowers student achievement. Parents are not happy about students doing nothing in class because they don’t have a teacher to help them with their work. They’ll give the subs work to the student and not teach them.So instead of kids not knowing what to do then we  need more teachers that know what they’re doing. 

Recently I have figured out that our school has like 2 clubs and a lot of sports, And not everyone likes sports they would rather have clubs. Also instead of kids just going straight home after school and doing nothing and not socializing, they can stay and talk to other kids who understand what they feel like and what they enjoy. So they pretty much can connect with others instead of being left out. They can embrace your creative thinking, and teach you how to work effectively with other people and help students develop a sense of unity and teamwork.
