Personal Finance Class Uses Sponsored Course To Teach Students

Most classes stick to the usual Canvas accompanied by the occasional packet or YouTube video for students’ work. Personal Finance class does not; it utilizes an online learning program called Ramsey Classroom, sponsored by Harrington Insurance Agency.

Ramsey Classroom has a 13 chapter personal finance course that includes a digital textbook, videos, and assignments that teachers incorporate into their everyday lessons. Personal Finance teacher Mr. Mitchell aims to find a balance between teaching face to face and using the videos, only showing videos after speaking with the class; “I usually look at a lesson and find the major points, then go over those in class,” he said. Interestingly, one of his past students actually helped to find funding for the program.

Keelan Faulkner, a current Personal Finance student, finds the curriculum to be helpful, saying, “It feels more interactive than my other classes.”
