Rebecca Pollard, also known as Mrs. Pollard to all students, is a Health Science teacher at Carter High School. I asked her a little about what she did before her job and this is what she said “Before I started teaching at Carter High School, I worked as a registered nurse at University of TN. I worked there for 6 years.” While Mrs. Pollard was a RN, she had a daughter that she didn’t get to see much because she worked a 12 hour shift 3 days in a row which only left time to see my daughter at night when she would already be asleep. Mrs. Pollard stated “Not seeing her daughter much would not work for me so I quit there.” Mrs Pollard went on to work at Bearden High School before Carter. She claimed she likes Carter more and she likes that it’s closer to home. Mrs. Flatford is the cosmetology teacher right next door to Mrs Pollard’s class. They are very good friends. This is what Mrs. Flatford said about Mrs. Pollard: “She’s my bestie. We have been friends since I started working here, so about 16 years. We have a lot of similarities and some differences but I think that’s what makes us work best together. We do a lot of school events together such as awards, graduation, and senior night. Her daughter was a cheerleader when I was the cheer coach as well.” Mrs. Pollard has come a long way since her tough years at UT. She always knew she wanted to do something with health care, and now she gets to do it with her best friend.
