Jasmine Worley, sophomore, talks about what she loves about being in musical theater. What Jasmine loved the most about being in musical theater was the people. Jasmine says, “Probably the people, although we had a rough year there’s a few selection of people who make theater completely worth it.”
Jasmine says what it is like with Mr. Berkley, the new musical director. “Yes, we have an amazing new teacher who actually teaches us how to sing and we have a lot less people in the class now, which makes things a lot easier and there’s little to no arguing anymore, ”Jasmine says.
The new director, Mr Berkley, for the Carter high’s musical theater department talks about what it is like as the new director for musical theater. Mr. Berkley says, “It is a bit difficult being the director of a musical, especially because I came in the middle of a show and in the middle of the year. That being said, the students have been very understanding of our circumstances and are working hard to put on the best show possible. I appreciate that everyone at Carter has been so supportive and helpful.” Mr. Berkley says that he loves teaching the musical theater class. “I love teaching the musical theater class and I love directing a show for several reasons. First, it is fun; the students and I have already made great connections, and I can’t wait to grow the program in the future. I think storytelling is at the center of who we are, and I think theater teaches students how to be positive members of society who know how to communicate those stories. That is what I love most about teaching theater,” Mr. Berkley said.
