From Alaska to Texas: Tarynn Macfarlane Has Seen it All

From a Southern state, Alaska has always seemed far away, but for new student Tarynn Macfarlane, it’s home. Born in San Antonio Texas, Tarynn moved to Alaska at the ripe age of 4. There she remained until about 2 months ago, when she moved to our fair city. She walked into ACT prep one fine morning, and many, including myself, knew she would bring a new brightness to our tedious days here at school. One student in particular, junior Robin Foster, was drawn to her. When asked why she felt an automatic platonic connection with Miss. Macfarlane, she replied, “Her outgoing manner made me feel comfortable enough to talk to her.” It was a good thing that Robin introduced herself that day; she is now a close friend of Tarynn’s. Other than her extroverted personality, Tarynn is also incredibly funny. Robin noted that she “loved her humor.” Tarynn herself has an interesting background. She comes from three generations of USAF members: her father, grandfather, and brother are all veterans or active members of the Air Force. In fact, the reason why she moved to Alaska from San Antonio, home of Lackland Airforce Base and AF basic training, was a base transfer for her father. Tarynn, like her family before her, wants to go into the Air Force as a medical personnel. Tarynn said that when she retires she wants to “move back to Alaska to grow a homestead.” When she isn’t planning for her future or attending school, Tarynn leads a typical teenager’s life. She hangs out with her friends, and loves to play with her Alaskan Husky, Koda. So, if you ever want to meet someone who is fun, interesting, and loves new friends, say hello to Tarynn; I promise you won’t regret it.
