Different Sections In Band at CHS

 Carter High School Band has been progressively more successful throughout the last four years In the band there are different sections depending on instrument. I interviewed Sadie Coffee this year’s band constructor, and I also interviewed  Karter Smiddy , another senior in the band. Both of these ladies play different sections in the band. Karter plays trumpet and mellophone, which is a part of the brass family,  and Sadie plays clarinet, which is a part of the woodwind family. Karter said she would tell upcoming band members “Stay motivated, practice, and step over your boundaries. If you see a piece of music you don’t understand, study it, don’t give up and push yourself to be able to play it. Practice quite literally makes perfect.” Sadie added to that and said “, Never give up even if you’re burning up outside marching, it’ll be all worth it in the end when you get that trophy at competitions. ” Sadie also said,”the hardest part about playing an instrument isn’t getting the sound ,it’s keeping the rhythm and staying in tune with everyone else.” And lastly I asked the girls what’s their favorite memory they’ve shared with the band throughout the years, Sadie says “It was at the Carter and Gibbs game when we performed at halftime and the student section and football team came and danced with us after we won!” And Karter says her favorite memory is “Sophomore year, at the foothills classic competition held at Seymour, we were given the title of grand band champions and placed 1st in everything.” She also had another favorite memory which was” My senior year at the Gibbs game when after the football team won the game, the football team and the student section came over to the band and they got super hype as we played our stand tunes for them. The environment was honestly amazing and we’ve never felt so loved by our school and community.”
