The Carter High School boys’ soccer team is currently looking for a new coach. Their coach from the previous season, Mr. McGee, has resigned, so they are now in search of a new leader. If a new coach for the team is not found by the time the season starts, they have a backup plan. If there is no other option, Ray Wynn, the bowling coach and technology specialist for CHS, has decided to fill the position himself. This is only as an absolute last resort, though. In these uncertain times, the seniors are expected to step up and be leaders for the younger boys on the team. “I feel very excited because I can’t wait to play an actual season, because the last one got cut short,” Tanner Henderson, a senior explains, “but at the same time, I’m also sad and scared because we still don’t know if we will have a season, and if we do, it’ll be our last.” Their season was cut short last year due to COVID-19. It was devastating for the upcoming seniors because there was a chance of not having a season at all. That chance is still present if they cannot find a coach, which is why they are so diligently searching. Tanner also says that the seniors will make a great leadership team, because they all get along and work very well together. These boys deserve a good last season, and so far things are looking positive for the boys’ soccer team.
