Covid-19, widely regarded as the biggest negative to plague our world; but in reality, there are a lot of positives to this unworldly virus. In this article I will be talking about all of the positive effects that covid-19 has had on this school. I know that covid-19 has allowed for each student to express themselves creatively; in addition to this, the virus will also help us better prepare for any and all future disasters here at carter high school. No matter where you stand on this topic, I think we can all agree that this virus has had a positive impact on the way that we live our lives, while still being a negative of course.
“I think it’s fair to say we, as a school, have learned to adapt and change on so many levels and in such a short amount of time (from something seemingly small like adding a 5th lunch to even bigger challenges like learning how to teach students who aren’t in the building every single day). I believe that is something that we should all be proud of.” said Sarah Groover, an algebra 2 teacher at Carter High school, when asked about her stance on this topic.
Covid-19 has allowed many students to express themselves creatively; without the stresses of school. Because of covid-19; we, being the students and staff, will be better prepared to handle bigger catastrophes, and the school closures that come with it. Covid-19 has led to a whole new outlook on life for many students.
Some may say that covid-19 has negatively impacted the school, and those who are involved with it, like the mask mandate, and the social distancing guidelines; however these are only minor setbacks to what I would consider, a huge period of creative independence; like being able to work on novels, and being able to read books, even being able to write and play music.
In conclusion, there may be some negatives (some would say a lot of negatives) to covid-19; but as I’ve hopefully shown you here there are some positives as well; and I think I’ve proven that those positives far outweigh the negatives.
